How about best sites to buy green beans? Everyone knows about Sweet Marias. Are there other sites that offer good value and quality?

Hi Alan
Commercial roasters will get small samples to try before buying a larger quantity. This is a little more complicated and costly for the homeroaster. This is why I encourage other independent homeroaster green bean suppliers to offer the kind of information that Sweet Maria's does.
They need to explain their coffee background, cupping abilities and certifications.
They need to offer similar information about a lot as SM.
Country origin, grade, region, mark, processing, crop year, varietal(s). Cupping notes on on levels of acidity, sweetness, body at minimal. And a decent cupping description.
Unfortunately, I just haven't seen these kinds of details offered in the past from suppliers other than SM. My experiences with other independent suppliers has been mixed and can't feel confident in endorsing these suppliers (not that some of them may consistently offer good quality and service). I do buy from well known Roasters who will offer the same beans green as they sell roasted and feel pretty confident in that type of purchase.

I am hoping to modify a SC/GG using the TC-4 /Arduino products and software being discussed on HomeRoasters. I've seen you're posts there.

Would you devote a future blog to more detail of how you've bypassed the GG control elements for use with a monitoring/control hw/sw.
Please also discuss your thermocouple installation and use , including BT and ET placement.
